Editorial Policy

Our goal is simple: give homeowners repair guides they can trust. This page explains how we create, check and update the content on HomeFixHow.

How we choose topics

We write about the real problems homeowners search for most: leaks, clogs, noises, sticking doors, broken fixtures and everyday maintenance. Reader questions and suggestions also shape what we cover next.

How we research and write

  • We check each repair method against manufacturer instructions, product manuals, and trusted trade, safety and government sources.
  • We write in plain language, list tools and parts before the steps, and start with the easiest fix first.
  • We include clear safety warnings and say when a job should be left to a licensed professional.
  • We do not copy content from other websites.

Review and updates

Every guide is reviewed by our editor, Daniel Harper, before it is published. We revisit guides regularly and update them when products, prices, codes or better methods change. Major updates are noted with a new “last updated” date.

Corrections

If you find an error, please contact us with the page link and the details. We review every report and correct mistakes promptly.

Independence, affiliate links and sponsored content

Our recommendations are our own. We may earn commissions from affiliate links (including Amazon) and income from ads, but this does not influence which products or methods we recommend. Sponsored content is always clearly labeled, edited to our standards, and must be useful and relevant to our readers. Paid links are marked with the appropriate “sponsored” tag.

Use of AI tools

We may use software tools, including AI writing assistants, to help with research, outlines and drafts. Every guide is reviewed, fact-checked and edited by a person before it is published, and our editor is responsible for everything on the site.
